Black Alpine

About Black Alpine:

Black Alpine play old school rock ‘n’ roll. Loud & funky, and with an attitude and stage performance so rarely seen since the classic heavy metal era. Black Alpine is bringing back the balls to the rock scene and taking you along for a wild ride the way the bands used to do it.

With influences from funk, blues, thrash and classic metal, Black Alpine’s stage show is something to experience first hand; Dionize’s gravelly singing and self destructive energy, AK’s thrashing guitar fury, Banjo’s Killer bass lines, and Jimmy’s relentless rocking beats. Complete with theatrics and overall extreme energy every night.

This up and coming rifftastic rock outfit is ready to take the world by storm.

Blood Buffalo

About Blood Buffalo:

Blood Buffalo formed in Auckland in late 2014 when the brothers Caleb (Vocals/Guitar) and Nate (Bass) who are inspired by Wolfmother, Jack White, My Morning Jacket, and Led Zeppelin met Damien (the lead guitarist) who grew up on Pantera, Skid Row and Guns N’ Roses. They then finally met Stickman, Alexander who honed his chops listening to Black Sabbath, John Mayall, Deep Purple and The Rolling Stones.

As a result, Blood Buffalo have created a bluesy hard rock sound turned up to 11. Seeing them live is an experience –  high energy, unpredictable, and loud. This is Blood Buffalo.

Ralph Bennett-Eades

About Ralph Bennett-Eades:

A New Zealand Singer Songwriter who sings the Blues.

Ralph started hollerin’ the Blues and playing Slide Guitar in 1978, after immersing himself in the Mississippi Delta Blues of the early 1900’s. He found his way there via the likes of Led Zep, Janis Joplin, Joe Cocker, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Grateful Dead, Allman Brothers and Johnny Winter.

“The first time I sang the Blues was at our Primary School End of Year Concert, I sang the lead on ‘Take this Hammer’ ( they even painted my face black!).

The first time I felt the Blues I was hitch hiking, more walking than rides, but the rhythm of those steps brought out words and phrases.

The first time I connected with the Blues was listening to Johnny Winter playing a National Steel ‘ Broke Down Engine ‘. I shared this with my new flatmate and he gave me the lecture: Blind Willie McTell, from then on it was total immersion, Sonny, Brownie, Leadbelly, Woody Guthrie, Bessie Smith, Fred MacDowell, Robert Johnson of course, but more important to me Son House, Charley Patton, Bukka White and Blind Willie Johnson and then onto Elmore, Fleetwood Mac and Hound Dog Taylor.” Ralph Bennett-Eades

A true Kiwi Blues Journeyman. 100% Kiwi Blues.

Beach Pigs

About Beach Pigs:

Melodic noise popsters based in Auckland.

Influences: We all have different tastes in music. For example Dahnu really loves Frank Ocean and listens to it blasting around the flat. Suren loves Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs at the moment. Billy still loves Tool. We all have varied influences at one time. Fleetwood Mac has been pretty radical for us. Also the Cure, the Beatles and Joy Division. John Frusciante is my favourite guitarist in the whole world.” Daniel Kerr

Band members are:

Dahnu – vocals
Daniel – guitar
Billy – bass
Suren – drums

Beach Pigs were finalists for the Critics Choice award at the New Zealand Music Awards in 2012.
