Saru G

About Saru G:

Saru G is a fresh face on Auckland’s hip-hop scene. Frustrated with a world full of greed, corruption, hate and violence, his unique style and lyrical content is a shot in the arm for mainstream rap.

Covering issues from war to radiation, Saru G spits verses that expose what is wrong with the world and offers up positive alternatives. All set to stomping hip-hop beats, chilled rythms, snappy guitar riffs and the occasional heavy house tunes.

Taking hip-hop back to it’s roots where lyrics were a social reflection not a mainstream brainwash. Be aware. Be awake!

Spiral

About Spiral:

Spiral has a groove. The groove is alive; it has soul, it has emotion, it can get hot and sweaty and it does not fear to get a little dirty.

Where soul meets samba, rock and jazz meet reggae, and horns rub shoulders with lush keys and broken strings, these are the places where Spiral unites.

Hailing from Auckland, on New Zealand’s picturesque West coast, you’ll be treated to soaring vocals, raging solos, a horn section that packs a phat punch from a collective of some of New Zealand’s finest musicians.

Members: Andrew Hall: Vocals, Saxophone, Ewi Finn Scholes: Trumpet, Juno Hamish Jellyman: Trombone, Percussion, MS2000 Anthony Hunt: Piano/Organ/Rhodes, Joel Vinsen: Guitar, Pedals Dave Hodkinson: Bass, Moog Chris Grant: Drums.

Stingray

About Stingray:

Stingray is a 5-piece blues band from New Zealand who play original, big, hot blues with a front line of harmonica and guitar. Stingray influences are broad – especially with their up tempo swing sound – it shimmies and it shuffles and there’s rock and roll and boogaloo rhythms that make you want to dance.

Good old Honest to goodness “Jump’n Blues “and old school “Funky Soul” with a twist of Jazz, played the old fashioned way. The material they play is a nod to their heroes, T-Bone Walker, Louis Jordan, Little Walter and they have a growing set of their own tunes on contemporary topics.

All their songs, written by frontman Brian Glamuzina, are modern and topical. When Stringray hit the stage and start playing they deliver a show that has an energy that is well worth the effort of coming along to see them live.

“The energy is really high, we play like we’re a young band. It’s energy you wouldn’t normally get with an older band.”

Spook the Horses

About Spook the Horses:

Spook the Horses are an atmospheric post-hardcore band from Wellington, New Zealand.

Spook the Horses craft monumental hymns atop a percussive baseline saturated with sound. Yet, like sonic kin Terra Tenebrosa, The Old Wind, or Cult of Luna, the spacious and ruminative passages threaded through Spook the Horses’ songs are as crucial as any outright aggression.

Picturesque soundscapes, be outbursts and scatterings of crestfallen vocals define the band’s unique sound. Spook the Horses have steadily built a reputation for crafting immersive live performances, built on the back of extensive touring.

Band members:

Ben Dentice
Donnie Cuzens
Callum Gay
Alex Ross
Zach Meech
