NZ Music Month – The Miltones

The MiltonesAfter debuting on Radio Hauraki’s Morning Show and featuring on Juice TV’s NZ Own, the Miltones are a new act making their mark in the New Zealand music industry.

On the back of last year’s debut single ‘Black Dahlia’, the Miltones will soon be bringing their gritty fusion of blues, folk and all manner of debauchery to a town near you. We’re expecting news of their upcoming EP release and tour dates soon.

In the meantime, if you missed hearing Black Dahlia check it out, and we’re sure you’ll understand why we’re pretty keen on this band!

The Miltones bring a live show filled with a blend of sweet melodies, beautiful stories and absolute chaos. Having played music together since their teens, blood sweat and tears are all complied into the craft of their songs. The Miltones have played the covers circuit around Auckland from an early age through to packing out the Leigh Sawmill with their own stunning originals.

‘A band that’s driven by strong lyrics and not by gimmicks is a band that deserves to stand the test of time. The Miltones are that band.

After trading redheaded bassists like Pokemon cards they settled down and have since been writing songs where every members contribution stands out.

Pair that with their old school rock influences and a single read to drop and you have a band chomping at the proverbial bit.

They’ve been breaking their backs playing covers since they were 16 and four years later and have made a habit of the pub scene. Kiwi music ethos at its finest.’

Sebastian Macay, Groove Guide, May 2014.
