Violet Highway

About Violet Highway:

Violet Highway is a female fronted three piece that plies a fiery blend of Rock, Pop and Blues that will leave you torn between dancing up a storm and drunk texting your ex.

They match passionate lyrics with catchy melodies and powerful instrumentation. Lead vocalist Jacqui Munro belts out a tone described by listeners as “PJ Harvey meets Joan Jett” alongside her own gritty guitar work. The band’s rhythm section is defined by attention-grabbing bass riffs from Ant Deane and heavy, energetic drumming from James Rimmer.

Valedictions

About Valedictions:

Valedictions are an Auckland based three piece Rock’n’Roll powerhouse.

On return from London in 2009 Valedictions went into the studio to work on their bag of tricks and released their first single Hey Lady. With a strong start to 2010 they secured a spot at the Big Day Out and the Big Night In with The Veils, Cairo Knife Fight and True Lovers. With numerous other performances throughout the year they also joined the Jordan Luck Band on the end of their NZ tour, impressing crowds with their full on live performance.

Their first single ‘Hey Lady’ was featured on the Rock FM ‘Off the Record’ segment. In 2010 they released their second single ‘Guilty Man’ which is undeniably catchy and radio friendly and was also featured on the Rock FM ‘Advanced Warning’ segment and other stations.

2013 found the band recording a further single produced by Andrew Buckton, ‘Come and Get It’; and released a music video for the song which aired on C4 for several months. ‘Come and Get It’ also got featured on the Rock FM ‘Off the Record’ segment as well as securing a Wildcard Chart spot on the theaudience.co.nz website.

Valedictions’ songs have also featured on some of Kiwi (OZ based) surf-filmmaker Craig Halstead’s surf compilation videos for Coastalwatch.com

With more time spent in the studio, and an EP release in 2015, Valedictions are looking to get back out there and continue causing hearing loss to more keen punters.

About The Veils:

The Veils are a London-based indie/alternative band fronted by lead singer and songwriter Finn Andrews. They are known for their chaotic and highly cathartic live performances and Finn’s often scarily possessed stage presence.

Head of Rough Trade Records Geoff Travis has referred to Finn as “a young but maturing real artist in the vein of Nick Cave and David Bowie”.

The Veils are: Finn Andrews, Sophia Burn, Daniel Raishbrook, Raife Burchell, Uberto Rapisardi.

Villainy

About Villainy:

It’s hard to be a triple threat in rock, but somehow Villainy have managed it. Their combination of killer hook writing, no-holds-barred live performances, and a penchant for wanton destruction has left a trail of Australasian audiences in their wake. This has Villainy sitting pretty as one of the most exciting rock bands to emerge from New Zealand in recent times.

The band have frequented venues around New Zealand, whilst also taking numerous trips across the Tasman where they’ve carved out a second home among the up-and-coming rock acts of Australia. Villainy are known for bringing an intense, unforgettable performance to every show, a reputation that has seen them perform alongside international acts ‘Incubus’, ‘Billy Talent’ and ‘The Offspring’, as well as performing at the 2014 Big Day Out and twice on the Homegrown Rock Stage.

Villainy are:

James Dylan
Neill Fraser
Dave Johnston
Thom Watts
